Event Background

According to the statistics, nearly one third of the world’s population (e.g. almost 2.3 billion) will face water shortage by 2025, affecting more than 40 countries and regions. China is also being regarded as one of the 13 countries in the world that will suffer the most severe water shortages by United Nations. In 2010, china will enter into the serious dry period; in 2030, in total water deficiencies in china will reach as high as 60million stere. Based on experts’ research, over 80% of water consumption in the costal area is for industrial purposes, which would compound the problem further. Therefore, it is crucial to enhance the rate of water reuse and recycling, raise the quantity and quality of industrial wastewater discharge. Meanwhile, as the development of China’s industrial economy, industrial wastewater treatment has become a much bigger issue. This is especially evident in the industries such as Petrochemical, Iron & Steel, Non-ferrous Metal, Pulp & Paper and so on so forth. According to Chinese government’s CNY 4 trillion stimulus package, around CNY 210 billion will be used for energy saving and emission reduction which definitely would be a good news for the development of industrial wastewater treatment.
